What is the Sleep Blog, or is it a ’Plog?
’Blog, ’Plog?
Tomato/Tomahto, Potato/Potahto argument?
In designing the concept for the Sleep Blog, I gave thought to the name. First, is this a ’blog, or is this a ’plog, as the term, “’blog” comes from the words “Web log,” which isn’t to be confused with a Web logs (or as some refer to them, Weblogs), which keeps site statistics for Webmasters.
Since this is a Sleep Blog, does that mean the last letter of the first word, a “p,” should become the first letter of the second word, “log,” making this a ’plog?
Deciding whether this is a ’blog or a ’plog was a challenge, and I still haven’t come up with the final answer, so Regis is going to have to sit back, get a refill on his coffee, and shut his mouth, else I may be forced to cram a whole wheat walnut-raisin muffin in it. I’m sure it wouldn’t be appreciated.
When I was working on ideas and concepts for the Sleep Blog, I gave due consideration to many things. The one thing that set me off on the path, that made me commit, was a promo on a Philadelphia TV news channel, touting a “pill for people who work too much and sleep too little.”
In hearing the promo, I fired up my laptop, fired off an e-mail, and asked specific questions, giving some information, suggestions, and advice, as well as contacts at a pharmaceutical company and two sleep centers. Unfortunately, I can’t find a link to the story on the station’s Web site, nor did they respond to the e-mail. Yeah, that’s a big surprise. Not.
So, what is the Sleep Blog going to focus on? What’s it going to tackle?
That’s easy. I’m going to do what I always do. I am going to go off on a tangent when I feel like it. I will fire at will on various aspects of sleep, sleep disorders, the health insurance industry, home health care providers, health care providers, the Feds, pharmaceuticals, equipment manufacturers, and anyone else wandering in front of my sights.
I am no longer in the military, so that means I have no loyalty to anyone. When I was in the Army, I had an oath to which I pledged to remain true. When it comes to sleep, my loyalty is to truth, accuracy, and doing what’s right, just like everything else in my life. I don’t kiss up to anyone. Ever. For any reason.
Keep watching the Sleep Blog for my rants, raves, comments, and articles about sleep, sleep disorders, new research findings, and more!
